Five Kings was first performed at the Newtown Theatre as part of Short+Sweet Sydney 2005. The production was directed by the author with the following cast: Stephen Bourke, Greg Poppleton, Eddie Tang, Merlin Luck and Rob Flanagan.

A dingy inner city pub. Early evening. Five local pub workers sit on bar stools, sipping beers. Terry, Ken and Steve stare at Ant as he pushes buttons on a “pokies” machine. They all believe Ant has the magic formula to crack the machine and bring them all a huge jackpot. Ryan is also watching – but he isn’t so sure.
